Restylane Injections
(NASHA injectable gel)

Quick Information
Procedure: RESTYLANE® is a safe and natural cosmetic dermal filler that restores volume to the skin to correct facial wrinkles and folds.
Approved: The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approved Restylane on December 12, 2003
Length: A treatment generally takes 30 minutes
Anesthesia: Most people find the injections relatively painless. They may prick a little. If you like, a topical anesthetic can be applied to the area being treated prior to your procedure. When enhancing the lips, a local anesthetic injection is often given.
In/Outpatient: Outpatient.
Side Effects: The most commonly reported adverse events with Restylane were temporary redness and swelling at the injection site. These effects typically resolve within two to three days.
Risks: None reported. Virtually any risk of animal-based disease transmission is eliminated when using Restylane.
Recovery: Instant, there is nothing to recover from. Rarely are there complications with Restylane.
Results: Results are instant. Studies have shown that the average Restylane treatment results last six months, or even longer. The unique NASHA technology helps maintain the cosmetic effect until the injected material is nearly gone.
Cost: Please contact us for the price of Restylane
Alternative: Both Collagen and Botox are recommended alternatives to Restylane injections.

Restylane Injections, at a glance...

Restylane is a gel that is injected into the skin in order to add volume to lips and lift up wrinkles and folds. Restylane consists of hyaluronic acid, which is a natural substance already present in your body. Once in the skin, Restylane works by creating volume. Some dermal fillers are derived from animal substances. The hyaluronic acid in Restylane is non-animal. Because of this, some people say that Restylane is better than Botox.

During treatment, the crystal-clear Restylane gel is injected into the skin in tiny amounts with a very fine needle. The gel produces volume under the wrinkle, which is lifted up and smoothed out. When enhancing lips or facial contours, Restylane adds volume and shape to the treated area.

Treatment with the Restylane technique is a very quick and easy process. As no pre-test is needed, the treatment can be carried out immediately. A treatment generally takes 30 minutes. The time differs somewhat, depending on the correction you wish to have performed.

Restylane can be used for smoothing out folds and wrinkles, lip enhancements and shaping facial contours. The most common areas are the glabellar lines (between the eyebrows), the nasolabial folds (from the root of the nose to the angle of the mouth) and the lips, although other sites can also be treated. Very superficial or very deep wrinkles may be difficult to correct. Please consult Dr. Mitts for an assessment.
